Timing (synchronous) belts for precise, slip-free motion transmission – more than 600 stock items. We have belts with HTD profiles 3M, 5M, 8M and 14M, metric T5, T10 and AT10, inch XL, L and H, double-sided timing belts D8M and open-ended linear belts sold by the metre.

Most belts are cut from sleeves – you choose the width yourself, priced per millimetre. For every belt we state the profile, length, pitch and number of teeth – e.g. 5M 640 has a 5 mm pitch and 128 teeth. Brands Optibelt OMEGA and ALPHA, Gates HTD PowerGrip, SKF, Dunlop and PIX. Frequently asked questions

How do I find the profile and length of a timing belt?

The most reliable source is the designation on the back of the old belt, for example 5M 640 or T10 1050. If it is missing, measure the pitch as the distance between the centres of adjacent teeth and count the teeth. The belt length equals the number of teeth times the pitch, so a 5M 640 belt has 128 teeth with a 5 mm pitch. If the length divided by the pitch is not a whole number, the pitch is probably different.

How do I order the width of a timing belt cut from a sleeve?

For belts cut from a sleeve you choose the width yourself and the price is given per 1 mm of width. One piece in the cart therefore equals one millimetre, for a belt 25 mm wide you order 25 pieces. The profile and length are given by the product, for example 8M 800 with 100 teeth. Choose the width according to the old belt or the width of the timing pulley.

Can I replace a T5 belt with a 5M or XL belt?

No. T5 has a trapezoidal tooth with a 5 mm pitch, 5M a curvilinear HTD tooth with a 5 mm pitch and XL is an inch profile with a 5.08 mm pitch. Metric and inch series and different tooth shapes must not be mixed, even if the pitches are almost the same. Take care also with improved profiles sharing the same pitch number, such as Optibelt OMEGA and HTD, interchangeability must be checked in the catalogue.

What are double-sided and linear timing belts used for?

Double-sided belts, for example D8M or DT10, have teeth on both sides and are used in drives where the belt drives pulleys from both sides. Linear belts are open-ended, sold by the metre and are mainly used for linear drives and positioning. We stock for example the linear belt 14M with a width of 68 mm from Dunlop or the 8M belt sold by the metre with a width of 10 mm.
