Shaft repair sleeves are used to repair a damaged shaft or to prevent such damage. After long-term use, the sealing lip of a radial shaft seal wears a groove into the shaft, after which it no longer seats properly and the sealed medium leaks or dirt gets behind the seal. Shaft repair sleeves are stainless steel sleeves that are pulled onto the shaft using an installation flange. Thanks to the softer stainless material they seal the gap between the sleeve and the shaft, and after the seal is installed, its sealing lip runs on this sleeve. In new applications, especially when using a radial shaft seal with a PTFE lip, we recommend fitting this sleeve at the initial installation and replacing it during every major repair to keep the shaft undamaged.
