The U-cup seal according to PN 02 9274 is designed for sealing pistons in hydraulic equipment. The sealing function in the pressureless state is ensured by the radial preload of the seal (compression of the lips after fitting into the groove), during operation the pressure of the working fluid presses the lips against the sealing surface. Polyurethane AU has high mechanical strength and wear resistance.

Technical parameters: material AU 80 or AU 90 (polyurethane), colour black, pressure load max. 16 MPa (AU 80) or 32 MPa (AU 90), temperature range −30 °C to +80 °C, sliding speed up to 0.5 m/s, radial clearance max. 0.20 mm. Media: mineral hydraulic oils, engine and gear oils, lubricating greases, air. Polyurethane is not resistant to steam, alkalis, acids and amines.

Installation space: cylinder bore diameter D 100 mm, groove bottom diameter d 80 mm (+0,15), seal height h 12 mm, groove width b 12.8 mm (±0,1). Piston guidance in the cylinder with fit H9/f8. Can be fitted in split and non-split grooves.

Installation: clean the installation space, lightly lubricate the U-cup seal, do not pull it over sharp edges and threads (lead-in angles 15–30°, rounded transitions), roughness of moving surfaces max. Ra 0.4 µm. After inserting the seal into the groove, wait approx. 120 minutes for the deformation to recover. A replacement with higher load capacity (40 MPa) is the MA 28 seal made of AU 95.
