Frequently asked questions
How do I find out which V-belt I need?
The most reliable source is the designation printed on the old belt. Classical belts are marked with the profile and length in inches (e.g. A 52 = profile A, inside length Li 52″) or with width and length in mm (13 x 1320 Li), narrow belts with the profile and pitch length (SPZ 1000 = 1000 mm Lw). If the marking is illegible, measure the top width and height of the belt – profile Z is 10 x 6 mm, A 13 x 8 mm, B 17 x 11 mm, SPZ 9.7 x 8 mm, SPA 12.7 x 10 mm.
What do the lengths Li, Lw and La mean?
Li is the inside length, La the outside length over the belt back and Lw the pitch (effective) length used for drive calculation. Each manufacturer states a different length, so for our belts we list several lengths at once, e.g. A 13 x 1030 Li, 1060 Lw or SPZ 9.7 x 487 Lw, 500 La. You can find the belt by any length from the old designation. The difference between the lengths depends on the profile, so do not convert it by estimate.
What is the difference between classical, narrow and cogged V-belts?
Classical V-belts in profiles Z, A, B, C, D and E (DIN 2215, ISO 4184) are designated by the inside length Li. Narrow V-belts SPZ, SPA, SPB and SPC (DIN 7753) are taller at the same width and are designated by the pitch length Lw. Cogged V-belts XPZ, XPA, XPB, XPC and AX, BX have raw edges and cogs on the inner side, their cross-section matches profiles SPZ to SPC and A, B. Automotive belts AVX 10 and AVX 13 are designated by the outside length La.
What can replace a V-belt of another brand?
What matters is the profile and length, not the brand. A belt with the same profile and the same length (Li, Lw or La) from Dunlop, PIX, SKF, Optibelt, Rubena or another manufacturer is a dimensional replacement. Profiles A and HA, B and HB, C and HC, D and HD have the same cross-section, the agricultural H series is only designated by the outside length La. Garden belts 3L, 4L and 5L use inch sizes, the number divided by 10 is the outside length La in inches (3L 280 = 711 mm La).
How fast can you deliver a V-belt?
V-belts in stock are shipped immediately and delivery takes 1–2 days. We stock more than 5,500 classical, narrow, cogged, automotive and garden belts. Current availability is shown directly for each belt. If you cannot find the length you need, send us the designation from the old belt and we will check whether we can supply it.
Do you supply matched sets of V-belts for multi-groove pulleys?
Yes, we supply sets of V-belts for multi-groove drives. A set consists of belts of the same profile and the same length, please state the number of belts in your order or enquiry. As an alternative we offer banded (joined) V-belts, where several belts are joined by a cover band into one belt. You will find them in the category Banded V-belts.
