The O-ring is the most widely used type of seal because it requires little space and is very easy to install. With correct groove design and a suitable material, it performs its function reliably over the long term in both static and dynamic use within the temperature range permitted for the rubber material concerned.
Teflon ring (PTFE)
PTFE O-rings have the best chemical and temperature resistance. The disadvantage is minimal elasticity - these rings cannot be stretched and act as deformation seals.
